|Workshop for Aspiring Technopreneurs
Are you a current or recent science and engineering student interested in creating innovative solutions for today’s pressing problems and making these solutions available to society? If yes, then Techno is for you! The IOS at the University of Toronto presents the fourth annual Techno program for aspiring technopreneurs. During this month-long workshop, teams of young scientists and engineers learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and apply these lessons in a hands-on environment to translate their scientific discoveries into products and services. This highly-successful workshop series has resulted in the formation of more than 30 companies in the past three years.
|What & How You Will Learn
This is an intensive hands-on learning environment. You will devote the bulk of the time developing your actual business, and will have access to technical and business mentors and lab space for prototype development. Formal lectures will be interspersed with topical tutorials on related subjects and inspirational guest talks. Workshop topics include IP strategy, product development, financial and human resource management, corporate governance, market potential evaluation, business plan development and presentation skills.
